Year Course #1

Hello Hello
The other day I had little writers block, mainly because I was a little bored, of doing the same posts over and over, and I don’t know, maybe that’s what is required from a “Beauty Blog”? Maybe it’s not, I’m not sure however I don’t think there is a  rulebook that a blogger has to follow, and after all I just want to use this place to share. So as I suffered from this block, my sister suggested I write a post on my gap year, and the program that I did. I liked this idea so I thought I would start a weekly feature, writing about my gap year. Unfortunately due to ill health I left my gap year early, so I may get a friend to write a post on the last few months of the program, we’ll see.
Taking a gap year was always something that I wanted to do, however it never really became something that I was definitely going to do. That was until my final A-level year a school was a massive disaster, and just wanted to get away. I didn’t get into the University I had applied for, and to be honest I didn’t feel ready to go to University, so my efforts to get a place to start the year we extremely minimal, in fact more non-existent.
Instead of staying in Leeds, I decided I wanted to go away for the year, and Year Course was a program run by my youth movement FZY, which I had heard about before, and had known others that had taken part.

Year Course, is a 9month gap year program run by the British Youth Movement FZY, and the American Youth Movement, Young Judea. The participants are flown to Israel for 9 months, to live, learn, volunteer and experience the Israeli culture.
In my year due to the rise in university fees, there was only 6 Brits on the program. There was around 240 Americans, 2 Israeli's and 3 French speaking participants.
section weird
The Program is split into 3 sections, and each section rotates at the end of roughly 3 months. My section was Section 1 (also known as section Wonderful / Weird) and we began our journey taking classes and volunteering in the capital Jerusalem. Next up was Bat Yam, a city next to Tel Aviv, which we spent volunteering, but carrying on with our Hebrew lessons. Finally, we were based in Arad, which is in the desert. In these three months you got to choose whether to volunteer in Arad, live on a Kibbutz (A communal settlement in Israel, typically a farm,) or take part in a program call Marva, -a program in the Israel Defence Forces that allows young Jews to learn and experience the basics of IDF and Israeli life. Unfortunately I left in the middle of the second section due to illness, but I would have taken part in the Marva aspect of the program. Hopefully I may be able to get a friend who took part in Marva to write a post about it for my blog.
I just wanted to use this post to introduce you Year Course, and in the sequential posts I want to share with you some of my experiences in Israel.

Ombre Blue Nails

Hello Hello
I was doing my standard reading of quite a few blogs, and I came across this post by Lily from What I Heart Today. I got some inspiration from her and decided to create my own Ombre Manicure, but I decided to use Blues instead of Corals.

Flowers and Sailors

Hello Hello
I have recently discovered Want worthy, which I have to say is the best button on my browser toolbar ever! And due to me being a bit of a online shopper / browsing addict, my lists tends to get a little long, so I thought I could show you an item on my list once a week.
First up is a gorgeous shirt dress from Asos…

I love this cute shirt dress. I love the different patches, and the contrast of floral and stripes. It perfect for s/s, day or night. I think you could pair it up with little frilled socks and so cute Chelsea boots / or buckle shoes during the day and throw on a pair of chunky wedges / or bring out your pastel Jeffrey Campbell Lita’s, perfect for hitting the clubs.
The dress is £50 and you can buy it here.

Porefection or Perfection?

Hello Hello
I received a Debenhams Beauty Voucher for Chanukah this year, and yes it does feel like Chanukah was ages ago (it was in December), but this voucher created a lot of confusion for myself and I struggled to spend it really.
The voucher specifically said Bare Minerals on it, and I’m not a great fan of Bare Minerals, and thought I could on spend it at their counter, so I never really bothered looking at all. This was until a friend informed me that I could spend it on any beauty counter / products in store.
I spent weeks looking and debating what I wanted, but I had recently finished my then current primer, and had wanted to try Benefits Porefessional Primer so I decided to purchase that. I actually got it in a box (I think it was a Christmas gift box) and it came with a 8.9ml bottle of their Triple Performing Face Emulsion. I haven’t yet tried the Face Emulsion yet but I had to snap a photograph as the packaging is so cute.

Both of the two products would have cost £23.50.
In terms of minimizing my pores, I wouldn’t rate this product at all. I don’t have that noticeable pores anyways, but this product didn’t touch them in any way. However, as a primer, I love this product. It’s so light and silky and leaves your face feeling soft, without that sticky, heavy feeling some primers leave. I doesn’t feel as though I am adding an extra layer to my base make up but has helped my make up to last a little longer through the day.
I would recommend this product to people, despite the price tag being a little more expensive then some other decent primers.

Voices of an Angel

Hello Hello
I hope everyone has had a really lovely Easter weekend, unfortunately for me there was no chocolate on the cards as it was Passover, so the foods I can eat are pretty limited. I am hoping to be able to make up for it on Wednesday when Passover ends, and I should be able to get my hands on some reduced price Easter eggs! Fingers crossed. At the moment I’m stuck with this for meals…
004
Due to it being Passover this week has been a little crazy, despite me actually being in the house most of the time. Apparently, the whole world revolves around food in my family, so we couldn’t go anywhere for the day as we couldn’t even stop for a coffee. Being cooped up has actually been a real benefit, as I discovered a video on YouTube of two of the most beautiful voices around.
Lennon and Maisy Stella
I just cannot stop listening to the two sisters, the harmonies and tones to their voices just makes me happy, and lifts my mood perfectly.
I actually just realised that they are actually in the t.v. series ‘Nashville’, which I haven’t watched but may have to as I hear Hayden Panettiere is also a member of the cast.
Anyways here is the link to listen to Lennon and Maisy on Ryan Seacrest.

Sorry for the post with no photographs.
Let me know what you think of the talents, or tell me what you are listening to.

Death By Elephant…

Hello Hello
I recently purchased a new book, “Babble” which is written by the founder of advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi and owner of the Saatchi Gallery in London, Charles Saatchi.
003
I will most likely review this book when I have finished reading, although I am extremely enjoying it at the moment and don’t seem to be able to put it down.
But until my review I thought I would share a fact I’ve learned from reading this book…
“Execution by elephant was a common method of capital punishment in Asia, particularly in India.”

I Purchased the Holy Grail of Blushers…

Hello Hello
Yes, you read correctly, Nars Blush in Orgasm, is in my possession after receiving some Harvey Nichols vouchers for my Birthday.
All I can say is WOW! I love this product, its the perfect shade to compliment my skin tone. It creates a lovely, warm, gentle colour to my cheek bone, and the silky, softness of the product, feels so nice and smooth on my face. The colour doesn’t contain to much shimmer either, which means my face isn’t a disco ball following my make up application.

I would recommend this blusher to everyone, and can see why so many beauty addicts / bloggers rave about it so much.
You can pick up yours from any Nars counter for £21.50.
