Review | Rimmel's Apocalips

Hello Hello

After my week long search I finally got my hands on one of Rimmel's new Apocolips, however I am so disappointed with it :(
Apocalips in Nude Eclipse

Following reading so many raves I was just desperate to get my hands on it, last night I decided to give it its premier as I hit a few bars with my friends, but much to my disappointment, the  product didn't have a long life span, I had to keep applying at least every half an hour, and when I did wear of I was left with horrible looking dry lips, with hints of flaky nudeness.
Now I am not one to normally suffer from dry lips, sometimes occasionally in the summer, so some heavy application of carmex this morning has saved my lips, but I had such high hopes for this product, and I had planned to try out other shades, but I just cannot justify spending more money on this.

What did you think of Rimmels Apocolips?

Haul: Liz Earle, Rimmel, Barry M....

Hello Hello

Last night there was a student shopping night in the local shopping center and due to low funds I swore to myself that I was not going to attend. However after a lot of 'umms' and 'ahhs' my friends decided they wanted to go, and obviously I was dragged along with them. I am not one to be filled with will power and often cannot resist buying things if they are in front of me, especially if they are on offer. So when my friends swiftly walked past Topshop I was hopeful that I would be able to enjoy the night, without having spent a penny. However I was then dragged into Superdrug, a Superdrug with 10% off, and all hell broke lose, I spent a decent amount of money on things that I probably could live without.

The Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish with the muslin cloths. Rimmel fix and perfect primer and BB cream in Medium, as well as finally getting my hands on an Apocalips. I bought it in Nude Eclipse however I will definitely be stocking up on a few more. I also purchased the Barry M all in one base coat and top coat, which I was a bit weary of but I really wanted the two Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paints, and it was 3 for 2 so couldn't resist. I bought the nail paints in Blueberry and Prickly Pear. I know it isn't in my photograph, but I also purchased the Real Techniques Shading brush, which I cannot wait to use with my new MUA eye palettes, (Heaven and Earth, and Undressed).

I think for me I may have to save up for another week or so before I purchase anything else, lets just hope I can resist the shops which are unfortunately just across the road.

FOTD | Day to Night..

Hello Hello

Just thought I'd share with you my make up for the day which I am going to keep on with a little touch up to go out for dinner tonight...

For my base I have used YSL touche eclat foundation, with m.a.c. bronzing powder in refined golden to contour, mac blusher in pinch 'o' peach and mac highlighter in lightyear which I picked up in America and haven't been able to find anywhere in the UK which is really upsetting.

I have YSL eyebrow pencil in number 2, and I actually went for no eyeshadow on my eyes (which is unusual for me) but just a sweep over the eyelid with collection 2000 waterproof liquid liner in black and a pair of my favourite lashes which are the eyelure 101. I love these eye lashes, I literally wear these everyday.

On my lips I have premiered my new lipstick, it's one of the new colours in the sleek true colour lipstick in russian roulette. I actually did a review on this lipstick here.

Let me know what you think of this look.

Ps. Apologies I haven't fixed my hair yet.

Sleek True Colour Lipstick

Hello Hello

I still haven't managed to get my hands on an Apocalips yet, still on the hunt. However yesterday I was out and about and decided to check out the new colours in the Sleek make up True Colour Lipstick Collection

I only bought 1 colour which was Russian Roulette.

This is a matte colour and looks gorgeous on. This lasted on for about 2 hours, but then once it wore off it left a nice stain.

My only problem with this lip colour is it left my lips extremely dry, so I think next time I wear, I will definitely put a balm underneath.
These lipsticks are great value at £4.99 each and I most definitely will be checking out the other colours in the very near future.

Just a thought...

Hello Hello

I went into town to day to try and get my hands on the new Apocalips from Rimmel and to my dismay they were all sold out. I went to five different stockists and just couldn't get my hands on one. Will have to try again tomorrow, and will upload a view once I get my hands on them.

While I was out and about, I went to check out the new 'Naked Basics' palette from Urban Decay. I actually really like the colours in this palette, but they're gorgeous and matte, and I have definitely put this on my wishlist for my birthday.

I also went to spend my YSL voucher I received but I couldn't cope with the sales assistant, I appeared to know more about the products, and when I requested the prices of some of the things I was looking at, she just seemed to take wild guesses, so I was impressed and chose to leave.

All in all my shopping day was a bit of a let down. Better luck next time as they say.

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation

Hello Hello,

colour BR 60

I had heard mixed reviews about this foundation, and I love the Touche Eclat Highlighter so I decided I would give this a try. You can purchase it from any YSL counter for £28.
When I purchased it, I got colour matched, however now looking at it the colour a got is a little bit darker then my normal skin colour, however I do tend to always try and have a tan, so once on its actually an okay match.
This products goes onto the skin really nicely, and you can build it up well. -one 'layer' is like a tinted moisturiser, two 'layers' is more of a foundation etc- however I find that it adds an unpleasant shine to the skin, as though there is too much oil in the foundation. I have also found that even when applied over a primer this foundation tends to come off in some places, leaving my skin with an unpleasant blotchiness. I do like to use it occasionally when I go out clubbing, but I have started to mix it with other foundations to try and make it less 'wet.'

Haul: Essie, Topshop, Real Techniques....

Hello Hello

I have been a bit down lately, I think it's because of the weather (it's cold and miserable) so I had a little splurge and made some purchases of things I've been eying up recently. Fortunately for me, I didn't go as crazy as usually do but I am Happy with my purchases.

I am not at all crazed about the new season stuff in Topshop, but there a couple of things I do kind of like and will probably end up purchasing. I ended up buy a classic timeless sheer blouse in Navy, which has a gold cuff on each collar.

I think is a classic blouse, which I can wear in all season, and for day and night. I have seen quite a few shirts like this around, but I feel like the navy is something different, as I already own quite a few sheer cream shirts.

Secondly I bought two new colours from Essie. I bought Chinchilly, which I have read so many great reviews about and really love this colour. So cannot wait to use. I also bought Leading Lady from their winter collection. This colour is going to be great when I'm in a mood to be daring and sparkly!!

Chinchilly
Leading Lady

I have finally purchased my stippling brush by Real Techniques. I love the quality of their brushes and I haven't been able to find it on its own to purchase but I was in Boots and saw it, so couldn't resist.

My nails grew a lot once I stopped biting them, but the cold weather has made them really brittle so they all broke- it looks like I still bite them!
So bought the Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Treatment, which I am so excited to test out, I will let you know the results.
 My other purchases were...
Andrea Fulerton - Gold Nail Studs
These really cute Hello Kitty Tissues
Simple - Vital Vitamin Cleanser
I can't wait to use my new purchases and hopefully there will be some future reviews / posts about them...

My Lipstick of the Winter

Hello Hello

So I'm back at uni, in my small en-suite and despite the fact that I've only been here a couple of hours, I am missing a few home comforts already.

I thought I would take the time on this gorgeous, snowy evening to talk about my favourite Lipstick of the winter...

It's the Benefit Full-Finish Lipstick in No Competition

As you can see mine is very used

I have a quite big lips, and so have always avoided wearing dark / red lipsticks, as I always felt as though it made my lips stand more. However recently I have started to embrace and be grateful for what I was given, and have played around with some more daring colours, and this colour is the perfect example.

Its a deep cherry / plum colour which can become very dark if applied to much, but when applied just enough it gives my lips a gorgeous colour, with an almost glossy effect. It provides a gorgeous sheen
See I Have Big Lips

I often apply this over a lip balm as my lips can sometimes become quite chapped when I wear a lipstick, especially in the winter. However I feel the lip balm provides a base for the colour, so it actually stays on much longer

You can pick this up for £14 from any Benefit counter.

Another Adventure

Hello Hello

Today I'm writing to you from the car en route back to University, A little late to be going back I know.

As I laid in bed last night I reminisced the nights out I had last semester with my new friends. Outfits that were worn, makeup that was applied and the amount of alcohol consumed.

My struggle with my finances last year has made me realise that to fund my addiction to beauty I should probably find a job.

And so my adventure begins. To explore the city of nottingham and find someone to hire me and provide me with a little wealth.

Any tips to help me get hired? I'd love to hear them!

Also sorry the format it weird I wrote this I my phone so will edit later :)

Until next time

Review: Sanctuary Spa Thermal Transformation

Hello Hello,

As you know yesterday my Little Beauty Box came from Latest In Beauty, and despite my disappointment I did try one of the products I received last night. It was the Sanctuary Spa: 30 Day Thermal Transformation.
I received sample sizes of this product but there was enough in each sachet to use effectively. With the product I received a sachet of Peptide Transformation Serum, which you smooth over your face and neck first. I found this to be really sticky and it seemed to leave like a residue on my hands. On top of the serum you then massage the Thermal Clay Rose Mask. This came out like a pink mud -best way I can think to describe it- and to be honest it didn't have great "thermal powers." It didn't seem to get hot at all really, but I left the mask on for 15 minutes as instructed.

The product washed off quite quickly however I was left with an extremely red face. (I don't know redness is a common effect of the mask, but I advise only to try this product before bed.) I assumed that the redness was a given effect as this product claims to leave "smoother, glowing, more youthful skin" so I used my moisturiser (simple) and went to bed.

I woke up extremely disappointed, my skin didn't feel any different, which the product claims it should, and in honesty my skin felt quite dry, and there were still parts of my face which were red.

All in all I probably won't be rushing out to buy a full sized pack of this product.

If you want to see the other items I received in my Little Beauty Box click here!
Ps. Sorry for the awful photography, I am currently waiting for a new camera so I am using my phone plus the lighting in my house at the moment is temperamental so doesn't look very good! Sorry.

My Little Beauty Box: January

Hello Hello

I have received my Little Beauty Box from Latest in Beauty in the post this morning, and to be honest I am a little disappointed.

I ordered this box as I have recently had to cancel my Glossy Box subscription which I am gutted about, and the Little Beauty Box is only £1.50 which you pay via text.

The box itself is really simple, and there's no extra packaging inside, so when you open it, you just see your 3 samples kind of thrown inside. (It feels like there's no care, compared to other beauty boxes)

Anyway the three products I recieved are:
1. Weleda Birch Cellulite Oil: Now I don't have cellulite at the moment (thank god) but I do have a few scars that I'm hoping this product may help to even out my skin tone to reduce the appearance of them.

2. Sanctuary Spa: 30 Day Thermal Transformation: I have read about this product and it seems like it may be good to give you smoother, glowing skin in 30 days. However I only have one use here so we'll see how my skin feels after to decide whether I buy the full size product. It also says its more for anti-aging, and I am only 19 but these products can be good for giving you an even skin tone as well.

3. Royal Ballet Performance & Elegance Body Conditioner. In the past I have never been a fan of Royal Ballet products as I never liked the fragrances they put into their products. However this product claims to firm and tone the skin, and who am I to pass on that.

I am excited to use these products, however I am still disappointed with the box.

My latest Kurt Geiger Quest

Hello Hello

This is just a quick post whilst I'm trying to get some work done (epically failing!)

Firstly I apologise for the change of appearance again, but I am new to this and it seems that getting my blog to look how I want it to look is much harder than I first anticipated. Hopefully I will get it just right soon, probably when I get to grips with everything.

Now whilst doing my biology lab report, it was obviously appropriate to have a browse on the Kurt Geiger website and see what new stock they have in. Being the sucker for shoes I have like quite a number of their new stock, but I am mainly lusting over these beauties....
Nanette in black
These are £140 with I think is good for Kurt Geiger, but my current funds are insufficient. However it's nearly my birthday so maybe I'll be able to celebrate being 20 with these on my feet.

For me its back to work.

A Quick Change of Colour

Hello Hello.

Unfortunately whilst washing up this evening I chipped a nail, 'cry!' However this obviously meant I had to take off the lot and start again with a fresh lick of paint :)

Perfect opportunity to test out the new colours I got given!!

These are the Kiko Nail Lacquer and the one on the left is #394 and it's a matt khaki, and the one on the right is #268, and it's light, lime green with a tiny green glitter in it. I actually got bought these but I have been online and they cost £3.90 each (Which I think is really good value).

This was my first time using Kiko Nail Lacquer, -I've used other products by them - and at first I wasn't so sure as they appeared to be extremely runny and I'm usually one to stay well clear of green. However surprisingly they went on really nicely and two coats got an even colour, and for bonus points I actually like the green. This is the result....
Apologies for bad lighting and photo hopefully will get this sorted for future photographs
What do you think?
If you do like the finished look you can pick these up online here

Soft and Silky Toesies

Hello Hello.
Following my Gap Year in Israel last year, I became obsessed with wearing flip-flops instead of slippers when I'm just lounging around the house or my halls at uni. This means my feet are on show quite a lot of the time, so dry, ugly feet are not an option!

Luckily for me when in Israel I became well acquainted with the Ahava brand. who prides itself for using the dead sea minerals to make amazing beauty products, that cleanse, replenish and moisturizes your skin.
Their mineral foot cream is what I use to keep my feet soft and 'crack-free'.

This product leaves my skin feeling soft and silky, and does hydrate any minor bits of dry skin I may have. If my feet are like really dry -I know its gross to think about- I wouldn't use this product. I think it works best to keep your feet soft and smooth rather than fix any major dry skin foot problems.

I always apply this during a pedicure, following using my foot file. The fragrance of this product is really fresh, and slightly floral - honestly reminding me of the dead sea, and isn't over powering or that strong.
I personally buy this when I am in Israel, I do a major stock up but you can order it online here and its £13.30 for a 100ml tube which I think is a really good price.

I swear by this product, I say give it a try. :)
